Wilmington Middle School, or simply known as WMS, is a public middle school serving grades 6 through 8 under a traditional single track school calendar. Wilmington's school campus is located in the heart of the Port of Los Angeles Area, specifically in Gulf Avenue, Wilmington, California. The school is part of Local District 8 of the Los Angeles Unified School District and was established back in 1949. The school's colors are teal and black.


As of school year 2005-06, Wilmington has a total of 2,107 students enrolled. The school has a multi racial student body which is comprised of a Hispanic/Latino majority. 92% of the school's students are participating in free or reduced-price lunch program. Also, of the school's 37% English language learners, approximately 100% use Spanish as their Home language.


WMS, as stated on its mission statement, aims to "provide equal access to the tools necessary to build academic foundations for the ongoing progress of both the learners and the community."

Wilmington, California is a neighborhood of Los Angeles, with industry as its primary economical activity. It lies adjacent to the Port of Los Angeles, San Pedro, and Harbor City.
