Stephen M. White Middle School is a public middle school located in South Figueroa Street, Carson, California. Opened first in 1957, the school was named after Stephen Mallory White who was a former California-born senator. White MS is part of Local District 8 of the Los Angeles Unified School District and serves grades 6 through 8 on a traditional single track school calendar. The school's colors are red & White, the mascot is The Knight, while the yearbook name is "Statesman."

History
1955 - In August 8, Stephen M. White Middle School had a breaking ground ceremony.
1957 - In February 4, White Middle School opened its doors with its original 40-acre campus which was considered as the most modern school in the harbor area.

Carson is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. As of the 2000 census, Carson had a total population of 89,730. It is located 13 miles south of downtown Los Angeles, and is classified as a suburb of the city. Incorporated on April 4, 1968, Carson is the youngest municipality in the South Bay region of Greater Los Angeles.
Carson's economy is based primarily on manufacturing. About half of Carson's land area is occupied by factories, petroleum refineries, and other industrial buildings and structures. Carson also has a diverse ethnic composition consisting of Latinos, Filipinos, African Americans, Khmers, and Samoans.
