School Trivia

  • Local folklore says the school is haunted. The auditorium is said to be haunted by the ghost of a student in the room beneath the stage. Doors in hallways are said to open and close by themselves. Low moaning sounds have been heard on occasion. A bathroom is found to have ropes hanging from the ceiling where a student is alleged to have hung himself many years ago and there is a glowing clown-like apparition which seems to drift down the halls. These stories have been told for many decades.
  • Several key scenes in the motion picture Grease (1978) were filmed at Virgil, and the film Halls of Anger (1970) starring Jeff Bridges.
