University Senior High School, also known as UNI, is a public secondary school situated near the border of Santa Monica, particularly in Texas Ave., West Los Angeles, California. The school, part of Local District 3 of the Los Angeles Unified School District, serves students in 9th through 12th grade levels under a single track school calendar.

The school campus lies on a 24-acre site, comprised of a two-story administrative building, a three-story classroom building, a two-story arts building, 24 bungalows that house 37 classrooms, a theater and cafeteria, two gymnasiums, tennis courts, outside basketball and handball/racket ball courts, and two athletic fields, as well as two faculty and one student parking lots.

The "Home of the Wildcats" is home to over 2,500 students, comprised mostly of Hispanic/Latino children. University High School's mascot is the Wildcat and the school's colors are blue and persimmon (orange).

History

1924 - University Senior High School, then known as Warren G. Harding High School was founded.

1929 - As ex-President Harding's reputation declined, the school's name was changed right after UCLA moved its campus from East Hollywood to Westwood.

1971 - Sylmar earthquake struck UNI resulting to the abandonment of the school's gymnasium and auditorium. The school's original main building from 1924 remains in use to this day.

Dress Code

The following attire are NOT allowed in UNI:

1. Tube tops, Halter Tops and/or strapless tops (female students).

2. Tank tops (male) and wife-beaters (females).

3. Tops that show any part of a student stomach and excessive bare skin anywhere.

4. Gang related attire including colors and symbols.

5. Non-Uni headgear, including baseball-style caps, wave caps, or beanies, scarves (females), except for religious reasons.

6. Extremely short shorts or skirts.

7. Visible underwear (thongs and bra straps).

8. Excessively baggy or sagging pants.

9. Pajama tops and bottoms.

10. Shoes are required at all times. House slippers, beach walkers, or bare feet are not acceptable.

11. Message clothing, which is obscene or vulgar, sexually suggestive, inflammatory in nature or gang, drug, or alcohol related is prohibited
