Leo Politi Elementary School is a public elementary school located in West Eleventh Street, Los Angeles, California. It is part of Local District 4 of the Los Angeles Unified School District and serves pre-kindergarten through 5th grade educational levels. It opened back in 1991 and follows a four-track school calendar. Politi has approximately 980 students enrolled, 98% of which are Latino and the other 2%, Asian. Politi was named a Reading First and Focus school due to its academic performance. The school highlights the areas of Literacy, Mathematics, and English Language Development through the implementation of Standards-Based instruction using the Principles of Learning. The instructional program used to support standards based instruction includes the state-adopted Open Court Reading Program, Hardcourt Brace Math Program, and the district-adopted Into English! Program.
