Overland Avenue Elementary School is a public primary school located in Ashby Avenue, Los Angeles, California. Overland was founded back in 1931 and was designated as a School for Advanced Studies in 2003, giving it access to additional resources in order to be able to enhance gifted and advanced learners. The school is part of Local District 3 of the Los Angeles Unified School District and serves students in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade levels in a traditional single track school calendar. It currently has approximately 496 students enrolled. Overland provides a vibrant arts education taught by art specialists, access to accelerated math and language arts programs, state of the art library with a reading partner program, comprehensive academic assistance programs, school-wide use of technology and teaching techniques that serve the varying needs of their students. The school teachers and staff receive on going superior professional development and are supported by community resources such as Mount Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame Academy, UCLA, and the Westside Pavilion to name a few. About the Neighborhood
Cheviot Hills is an affluent neighborhood of single family homes located on the Westside of Los Angeles, California. Its gently rolling hills are reminiscent of the Cheviot Hills area of Scotland which is how the area got its name.
Cheviot Hills has a small town feel and, unlike some neighborhoods in a big city, many of the residents enjoy walking through the neighborhood and interacting with their neighbors.
Today, Cheviot Hills is considered one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Los Angeles.
