Marquez Charter School is a public primary school located in Marquez Avenue, Pacific Palisades, California. Opened back in 1955, Marquez School offers pre-kindergarten through 5th grade education in a traditional single track school calendar. The school has approximately 651 students enrolled and is part of Local District 3 of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Marquez was chosen as one of the first Charter Schools in California, entering into a "charter" or a binding contract with the Los Angeles Unified School District, the school’s chartering authority. The relationship between Marquez and the LAUSD is set forth in the Marquez Charter. Marquez consults with the LAUSD on matters not covered by the Charter and may seek waivers regarding issues, policies, and procedures that are not specifically addressed by the Charter or other applicable law.
