Lomita Math/Science/Technology Magnet is a public elementary school located in West 247th Street, Lomita, California. Part of Local District 8 of the Los Angeles Unified School District, Lomita was founded back in 1909 offering pre-kindergarten through 5th grade classes under a four track school calendar. Students are assigned to one of four tracks, and attend school on a rotation calendar of 90/30: ninety days in school and thirty days of vacation. This schedule affords maximum year-round use of the building, seasonal vacations for all students and minimal time periods away from school. The school mascot is "Leopard" while the school colors are blue and white. The magnet school curriculum reflects the educational preparation that today's students need in order to become knowledgeable, productive and successful adults who will be living and working in the 21st Century. It is based on the LAUSD Publication EC 606, "Elementary Course of Study." This publication adheres to the California State Education Code and the state frameworks. 1909 - Lomita Math/Science/Technology Magnet was founded.
1978 - Lomita Magnet School opened.
1995 - From a fundamental magnet school, the school shifted its focus to a math/science magnet school.

Lomita is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 20,046 at the 2000 census. Lomita is Spanish for "little knoll". According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.9 km² (1.9 mi²), all land. Its famous landmark is the Lomita Railroad Museum.
