South Gate is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. It is part of the Gateway Cities region of southeastern Los Angeles County. In 2005 the city had an estimated total population of 103,547. The "City of South Gate" was incorporated on 20 January 1923 by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
