Thomas Starr King Middle School is a public school located in Fountain Avenue, Los Angeles, California. Opened in 1926, King Middle School offers 6th through 8th grade education following a three-track school calendar. It is a member of Local District 4 of the Los Angeles Unified School District and currently enrolls approximately 2854 students. The school's diverse population speak over 30 languages and come from more than 40 different countries; some newly migrated, others are native born. When the school was reconfigured in 1995, several changes were implemented including grade level houses, common planning periods, interdisciplinary instruction teams, and COREs. King MS also has a schoolwide Title I School Program which not only addresses the reading and mathematics needs of identified Title I students, but allows the whole school to benefit from the programs.
