Evelyn Thurman Gratts Elementary School is a public school located in Lucas Avenue, Los Angeles, California. Gratts Elementary formally opened in 1996, offering pre-kindergarten to 5th grade classes under a three track calendar year. The school is a member of Local District 4 of the Los Angeles Unified School District.

History
1987 - The architectural plans for the construction of Belmont #5 Elementary School were approved.
1995 - Final construction of the building was finished. (School eventually won the California Alternative School Housing Award for its unique design and style.) The school board reformed the procedure of naming the school as it christened it after Evelyn Thurman Gratts, who was still living in the community. Her major contributions to the Westlake community were Head Start and the opening of the first integrated swimming pool in the Echo Park area.
1996 - Mrs. Gratts passed away in February.
