Granada Hills Charter High School is a public, charter, co-educational, secondary school located in the Granada Hills neighborhood in the City of Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1961, Granada serves students in the areas of Granada Hills, portions of Northridge, and Porter Ranch who are enrolled in grades 9 to 12. The school is currently accredited by WASC, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The school colors are green, black, and white while their mascot are the "Highlanders."
From the 2006 California Academic Performance Index (API) Base report, the school has an API score of 796 which corresponds to a state rank of 9 (1 is the worst, 10 is the best).
90% of the Granada Hills' teachers have full teaching credentials while less than 1% have emergency credentials. The Granada Hills faculty, who have 3% of first year teachers in their fold, averages 13 years in teaching experience and has a 3 year average teaching in the district...the school's average class size is 24 for grade 9, 32 for grade 10, 28 for grade 11, and 24 for grade 12...the student-staff ratio is 115 Students per paraprofessional staff, 115 Students per office/clerical staff, and 32 Students per other classified staff.

History
1961 - Granada Hills was founded.
1994 - The school became an LAUSD magnet school, running a program in math and sciences for the deaf and hard of hearing, in conjunction with the California State University, Northridge (CSUN).
2003 - Granada Hills was awarded charter status, as part of a larger drive to free Los Angeles area schools from LAUSD bureaucratic restrictions, and increase student achievement.
By 2010 - The school will be relieved when Valley Region High School 4 opens.
