Garfield Senior High School is a public secondary school located East Los Angeles, an unincorporated section of Los Angeles County, California. Opened in 1925, Garfield Senior High has continued to offer high school education for students in 9th through 12th grade levels, following a three-track school calendar. The school is part of Local District 5 of the Los Angeles Unified School District. The school serves the East Los Angeles area and the LAUSD portion of Monterey Park. The school colors are crimson, white, and blue. The school mascot is the bulldog.

History

1925 - Garfield Senior High School first opened.

1930's-1950's - Garfield High was predominantly non-Hispanic white.

1960's - Garfield High became predominantly Hispanic.

1991 - Garfield employed a year-round, multi-track schedule to relieve overcrowding since July.

2007 - The school's 82 year-old auditorium was set on fire by an arsonist costing an estimate of over $30 million dollars in damages. The auditorium was completely destroyed.
