Community Magnet School

Community Magnet School is a public elementary school located in Bellagio Road, Los Angeles, California. Opened in 1978, Community Magnet offers pre-kindergarten to 5th grade education following the standard single track calendar year. The school is also part of the Los Angeles Unified School District.

The 20-acre school campus can be found in Bel Air above UCLA, situated perrfectly in a beautiful canyon that is quiet and away from the city noise. It has 26 classrooms and the office complex. Inside, you can find a computer lab, library, art studio, auditorium and cafeteria. The kindergarten yard is separate from our 4-acre playground.

School Statistics

Community Magnet School currently has an enrollment of about 460 children. Almost half of them are White (41%), 26% are African American, 19% are Asian, 13% are Hispanic/Latino, and less than 1% are Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaskan, and Filipino. These students come to Community from all over the District. They are dropped off at school or ride one of our 10 buses. Class size in Community’s Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade classes is 20 students; and Grades 4th and 5th average 34 students. Two or more classrooms are provided for each grade level.

Ninety-one percent (91%) of the teachers of the Community Magnet have full credentials. Experience-wise, their teachers accumulate for a 13 year average, and also 13 average years teaching in the district. Only 9% of them are first year teachers.
