Ascot Avenue Elementary is located at the corner of Compton and Vernon Avenue and is one of the many schools under the Los Angeles Unified School District. Part of the Jefferson family located within local District 5, Ascot implements a Four Track 90/30 school calendar and is currently catering to more or less 1000 students. The stakeholders at Ascot are committed to high standards and high achievements for their students.
Mission Statement All students at Ascot Avenue Elementary will achieve tha Language Arts and Mathematics at each grade level as measured by the STAR Assessment and/or Aprenda. All English learners will increase by at least one ELD Level per school year as measured by the California ELD Standards.
Among the current enrollees, majority of the students are Hispanics/Latino. Other ethnic races present in the school are American-Indians, Filipino, Black & White Americans. When it comes to teaching faculty, Ascot ranks #146 among 224 elementary schools in Los Angeles based on its Students per Teacher Ratio of 20.25.

History
1876 - A lot in Vernon was purchased for $320 and used as a site for a school building, named eventually as Vernon Street School.
1896 - That some one room building some 20 years ago was annexed into the District and became known as Ascot Avenue School.
1996 - Ascot Avenue Elementary School was recognized as the first school in the District to put the 20 is to one class size reduction into effect as they introduced 399 first and second graders.

1] From S Central Ave. head north toward E 84th Street, then turn right at E Slauson Avenue. Take the left at Compton Avenue, then another left at E 45th Street.
2] From S Alameda Street, head north toward E Imperial Highway before turning left at E Vernon Avenue. Turn left again at Compton Avenue, then right into E 45th Street.
