Abraham Lincoln Senior High School, also known as Lincoln High School or simply LSH, is a public secondary school located in North Broadway, in the Lincoln Heights district of Los Angeles, California. The campus can be found in the East Los Angeles-area community, surrounded by El Sereno, Chinatown, Boyle Heights and Cypress Park. The school offers 9th through 12th grade education in a traditional single track school calendar. Lincoln residents are drawn from Lincoln Heights and other areas. Lincoln High School is full of tiger pride, and carries on the school colors black and orange.


As stated on its Vision statement, LHS aims to "produce problem-solving, critical thinkers who are responsible citizens and assets to their community. Lincoln High graduates will be technologically literate and prepared to successfully function within family, job, and society in our modern world."

History

1913 - Lincoln High School opened in temporary quarters in the Avenue 21 School.

1918 - The new campus on North Broadway opened.

By 2012 - Central Region High School 15 will open in to relieve Lincoln.

About the Neighborhood

Lincoln Heights is bounded by the Los Angeles River on the west, the San Bernardino Freeway (I-10) on the south, and Soto Street on the east; the district's northern border is unclear due to the area's uneven terrain. Adjacent communities include El Sereno on the east, City Terrace on the southeast, Boyle Heights on the south, Chinatown and Solano Canyon on the west, Cypress Park on the northwest, Mt. Washington on the north, and Montecito Heights on the northeast. Major thoroughfares include Valley Boulevard; Mission Road; Pasadena Avenue; North Main, Marengo, Daly, and Figueroa Streets; and North Broadway. The Golden State Freeway (I-5) runs through the district, and the Metro Gold Line has a stop in the far northwestern portion of the district. Lincoln Heights' ZIP Code is 90031.
