One Hundred Eighty Sixth Street Elementary School is a public elementary school located in West 186th Street, Gardena, California. The school first opened its doors in 1907 and has been serving pre-kindergarten through 5th grade students on a traditional single track school calendar, since. A School-Based Management/LEARN school, 186th Street School is also part of Local District 8 of the Los Angeles Unified School District.


As of school year 2005-06, the "Home of the Owls" was home to over 800 students (approximately 846), majority of which are of Hispanic or Latino descent. 84% of their students are participating in free or reduced-price lunch program. Meanwhile, of the school's 40% English language learners, 94% use Spanish as their home language.
